Tell memorable stories, communicate your brand message, or explain your keynote product in this engaging medium. 73% of consumers say they’d rather watch a short video over reading an article, looking at an infographic or downloading a PDF.
Video is an unrivalled storytelling medium, capable of invoking emotions, communicating values and engaging audiences in ways that other content cannot. Bringing your vision and mission to life, video should be inspiring as well as informative, entertaining as well as educational.
As a full service video production agency, we can help you tell your story in the best way that will appeal to your audience. From pre-production to production and post-production, our in-house team can write scripts, plan storyboards, direct, edit and output your final cut.
Video can be immensely powerful when promoting your business. It can also be a huge waste of money if you don’t start from the right place.
We work with you to produce videos which actually sell. Starting with what you’re trying to achieve and your budget, we’ll help steer your video in the right direction.
Video marketing is great for:
Telling your brand story
Connecting with your audience
Encouraging engagement and shares
Explaining your product or service
Market analysts believe that video is one of the most important and effective tools in marketing today. Video is a powerful asset for making sales, improving audience understanding and generating new leads, and its popularity and success is constantly increasing.
Combined with a social media campaign using platforms relevant to your audience, video content can grow your audience, convert leads and even go viral.
From start to finish, the video production process can be completed in a few weeks - although timescales depend on the complexity of the project and the availability of specific resources and circumstances (for example, it may be reliant on good weather).
A video is generally trying to achieve a result, so we start there. Depending on your budget we’ll start with a briefing chat or full day strategy workshop.
We’ll help choose a style and then work on the messaging. Our in-house writing team will also help create scripts and together we’ll work on storyboards.
We’ll then plan your shoot days with all the latest cinematic camera gear, and TV professionals, to make a stunning result. Our award-winning video project lead Chris Goor has worked on large scale TV events for over 25 years, so can pull in any extra talent or kit as necessary. From a prompting setup to camera cranes, we can source it all. We also have our own video and photography studio here in Nottingham.
After the shoot, we’ll stitch your video together in our edit suites adding any necessary graphics, animated elements, music and voiceover on the way.
She / her; red / blue. Mel is a writer, editor and designer. Equally happy hiking a muddy trail as playing tabletop roleplay games by candlelight. Will seize any opportunity for a party, as long as said party features copious food, prosecco and hits from the 1980s. Her true passion lies in words. A student of literature, she is fascinated by enduring myths, etymology and science fiction. Kurt Vonnegut is her hero. “We are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”
He / him; yellow. Creative jack-of-all-trades, Matt is "dangerously knowledgeable" in almost every facet of marketing. His favourite field is branding, and he loves developing inspiring, daring brand identities for organisations who are ready to do something different. But he's equally talented at front end web development and developing digital strategies. He's also the front man and guitarist in local parody heavy metal outfit Evil Scarecrow, plus a huge fan of music, eating in nice restaurants, and going on holiday.
He / him. Chris is a co-founder of Rusty Monkey. Chris would like to think of himself as a branding philosopher but in reality it means that he can sit in his hammock and come up with great ideas around business and branding problems. He’s also a BBC-trained camera operator and has worked on many large scale TV events. A technophile. Loves the outdoors and will often head into the countryside with his wife, daughter and camera drone. Really interested in ethical thinking and business.

A documentary-style brand video to communicate George Barnsdale's dedication to sustainability, innovative R&D, and responsible partnerships. Featuring talking head interviews to capture the authentic voices of the company, and stunning drone footage to highlight the beauty of the local area, the video tells George Barnsdale's story of a small family business making big changes in their industry.
This brand video communicates the passion and dedication of CCDC's team, whose work in crystallographic data has contributed to important scientific breakthroughs such as the development of new medicines. We used the unique architecture of their building and filmed multiple speakers reading a script to create this textured short film.
You want to tell a brand story that communicates the core values at the heart of your organisation. You want to connect with people who believe what you believe.
The most important thing for a brand video is that it's on brand (obv) so you need to have a strong idea of your brand or - even better - some brand guidelines to get the most out of this format.
Your brand video should communicate the most important things about your organisation, your values, your vision and your journey.
Brand videos can tell a very specific part of your story, or give people a top-level overview of your brand.
They can feature any number of different video styles and techniques, depending on what you're trying to achieve and your budget.
You need a video to promote your business or organisation, grow your audience, generate new leads or make more sales.
A corporate video is a great way to make your business feel more accessible and relatable to your audience. Businesses can often feel like faceless corporations, but an authentic video can change this perception.
Corporate videos are also a good way to communicate the diverse personalities you have in your team, as well as your company mission and values.
A corporate video can be for your end-user; but is just as likely to be an internal asset (such as an onboarding video) or a partner asset (such as a presentation in a funding application).
We look after all the different aspects of corporate video production from pre-production and planning, to adding graphics and voiceovers.
You want to shout about something special. It might be a groundbreaking new product, a fundraising event you're running, or an upcoming sale.
Promotional videos are all about grabbing your audience's attention with some news they want to hear.
Promo videos should be impossible to ignore, getting right to the heart of the matter to communicate your message in the fastest way possible.
One of the most important aspects of promotional video is not the making of the video itself, but the promotion of it. There's no point in making a promotional video if your target audience never gets to see it.
That's why it's vital to have a good grasp of online marketing when creating video content like this - understanding your audience, where they live and what content they want to see is key to your success.
You want to get your message out across your social media platforms and you need something more dynamic than an ordinary post.
Social media is an awesome platform for video content. Most people will stop scrolling to watch a video in their newsfeed, and maybe even share it - if it's the right kind of video.
Social media video content has to be short, punchy and attention-grabbing. You've got to hook people in in the first millisecond, and you've got to communicate your message in around 30 seconds.
You have a new product or service that you need to explain to your audience. Using visual and audio cues, you need to walk your audience through the process.
Most things can be explained better with video. People prefer to watch a simple YouTube video rather than read reams of instructions on paper.
Video is fast becoming the go-to medium for explaining your product or service, and YouTube is now being used as a search engine by people looking for how-to content.
We can use all of our in-house skills to create compelling and easy-to-follow explainer videos. Our writing team can translate highly technical information into language your audience will understand, and our graphic designers and 3D artists can create stunning visuals to help tell the story.
You're an artist or band and you need a video for your piece of music, or you need a crew on-site to capture the energy of a live performance.
Music videos offer us a great opportunity to get really creative and push the boundaries. Often combining live action video with artistic animation, music videos are aesthetic, eye-catching and enjoyable to watch.
We’ve shot videos for Evil Scarecrow in lots of different styles and Chris Goor is the Camera Supervisor on Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage shooting well over 200 different world famous artists like Beyonce, Paul McCartney and Radiohead.

There are many different styles of video and we’ll help you choose the best one for your project.
Pieces to camera (talking heads)
Sometimes the simplest video is the most effective. If you’ve got someone who can tell your story in front of camera, it can be really powerful. We can do this on site or we have our own studio at Rusty Monkey HQ complete with a prompting setup.
The easiest way to get your message across using your own people. In the preproduction we’ll work on some questions we can ask the contributors to help make the biggest impact.
Sometimes longer form content works best and can tell your story really well. Shooting over a number of days shooting interviews, being a ‘fly on the wall’, shooting B-roll and editing it all together is the best way to tell your company’s unique story.
A unique perspective always grabs attention as potential customers scroll through social media. Chris Goor is a fully qualified drone pilot but also brings over two decades of camera operating expertise to produce cinematic results which stand out.
Our studio is small but perfectly formed. We can make moving product shots with great lighting or produce great talking head videos with ease.
If you don’t fancy appearing in your own video, we have the ability to use professional presenters who you will have seen on TV. It can really elevate your messaging.
It really depends on your budget and what is cost effective for you. We’ve worked on projects from £150k down to £2k.
It depends on how many crew we need to bring in, the amount of pre-production, editing, graphics, etc.
We can work with your budget to make sure we create something which makes a difference.
Our team has over 20 years of experience and we can also pull in as many TV trained professionals as you require.
Yes. Chris is a qualified and fully insured drone pilot. There are certain limitations on where you can actually fly but we can have a chat about your project.
We have some of the latest Sony 4k cinema cameras but can also source any specialist equipment you may need or prefer.
Yes. We have an in-house team who can use Adobe After Effects to add effects, static graphics, moving graphics and text to your video. We also have a team who can create subtitles for you to add to your video on social platforms and so on.
There’s no correct answer to that. We always start from the problem that you’re trying to solve and work back from that. Some videos online can start at 6 seconds for moving product shots and coverage of a live conference can go all day.
Yes, of course. We can also offer you expert training in the kind of gear to buy and how to use it to help you produce something yourself.
