Evil Scarecrow | Video production
Evil Scarecrow are a parody heavy metal band based in Nottingham. We’re big fans - in fact, two members of the Rusty Monkey studio are in the band. The Evil Scarecrow brand is all about making heavy metal more lighthearted and silly.
The band needed some new music videos to fit their whacky style and appeal to their fan-base. We had ambitious plans to create some technically demanding concepts, which would require all of the studio’s video and animation expertise.
Working with a limited budget and some rather genius hand-made props, we created a series of music videos showcasing the band’s latest hits.
The 360° Hurricanado video was shot in a single exhausting take.
The psychedelic experience that is the Ballad of Brother Pain was animated from scratch, including 25 frame-per-second walk cycles.
Supernatural mischief befell the camera crew during the shooting of Polterghost.
Bespoke hand-crafted puppets were used to bring this Thunderbirds spoof to life.
Once captured, the videos went through a rigorous post-production process to give them that final polish. Boosted by online promotion, they have now received half a million views (and counting) and made a lot of fans happy.
We love our vids! But it's not about what we think. Here's what the fans are saying: 'Brilliant, this crazy bunch should have their own tv show!'
