Based at iC4C in Nottingham, Dance4 is an international centre for the development of extraordinary 21st century dance. By investing in artists, research and choreography, Dance4 showcases talent and pushes boundaries.
The Dance4 values of creativity and passion are aligned similarly with those here at Rusty Monkey and it was a natural fit for us to work together and share the same vision of the end result.
The website needed to demonstrate the work of Dance4 in not just the current and future tenses, but also the past activities. The archive that forms part of the website will continue to grow as the organisation and it's artists do.
Bespoke web development was required to link the artists with their work and present it in a manner that was easy to navigate, engaging and inspiring for those looking to express themselves within the industry. A key requirement was to promote events throughout the site and build a relationship to the artists and projects.
Much of the work that Dance4 curates happens at the International Centre for Choreography (iC4C) and we incorporated this into the website by developing a live space for each studio where visitors could see what is happening and engage with the artists through social media. To take the interaction a step further we called upon our photography experience and produced stunning 360o tours for each studio - these are great to really get a feel for the spaces and enable artists to conceptualise their ideas.
The design aspect was a challenge, but an area where we excel; the brief was to create a clean, minimal concept whilst featuring the maximum amount of information for each section. We achieved this by maximising the usage of white-space and focussing on the photography as a means to demonstrate straight edges / sharp lines.
Our WordPress experts were able to transform the platform into a web project that exceeded expectations and created a website that is easy to use and with a clear journey path.
